BASKETBALL- BASKETABLL TEAM SUFFER FIRST DEFEAT

BASKETBALL TEAM SUFFER FIRST DEFEAT

After beating St Thomas More and Kings School, CHS suffered their first defeat of the season at home against Birchwood High School. The visitors brought a very strong team who dominated the rebounding from the start. However, Alfie Stone, Matthew Jones and Mathew Finley soon started to make their presence felt for CHS. Some excellent teamwork brought CHS slowly back into the game. Captain, Patrick McGovern gave an impressive performance scoring 40 points.

Mr De Souza, PE teacher, said "This was a fantastic game, full of twists and turns".

Mr Hermitt, coach, said "I am extremely proud of the way the team played, they were behind at half-time and pulled back to within one basket. A late surge from Birchwood in the last few minutes took the game beyond our reach".

The final score was Birchwood 66, CHS 50.
